These pressed leaves are ideal for trying out rubbings using watercolour pencils.
Even the tiny veins come out quite clearly.
Hand-dyed fabric below provides an interesting background.
I've used some of the batch of rusted fabric above for a background with unusual visual texture, below.
Watercolour pencils on fabric have a delicate transparency once water has been added so the underlying marks of the background fabric remain visible through the motif.
