  Above is a swallowtail butterfly and below is a scarce swallowtail.  Strangely enough, the scarce swallowtail is the more common of the two in this area!  These photos were taken during a recent walk around the Chateau de Roquefixade.




According to my reference book this is a pearl-bordered fritillary.  It was no problem at all photographing him as he was quite a poser and happy to spend some time with us!
